    Winamp/Sleep problem?

For some reason when Winamp is streaming internet radio my computer refuses to sleep. I use Balanced plan and Multimedia setting is to "Allow computer to sleep" when sharing media. If I stop the stream the computer sleeps. What's the deal?

    Hi MB and welocme

I would suspect that the wifi/nic card is set to keep the computer from sleeping. Since you are downloading the stream it cant sleep till you stop. can you tell us what the wifi card is so we can tell you what to uncheck

It's not a wi-fi card but eternet cable. Marvell yukon ethernet controller. "uncheck where"
I will go ahead and stop streaming internet radio and play some onboard mp3's and see if it shuts down then. I'll be back around 8:45

Playing local mp3's and the computer still wouldn't sleep.

I have tried with 3 different programs VLC-- Winamp--WMP and sleep will not work if either of them is playing music. Is this normal?

Mine goes to sleep in any case, local mp3's and streaming music, if I press the sleep button. It just stops playing, and as soon as I restart my computer, it continues playing where it left off.

Mine will sleep too if I use the sleep button, but it should also sleep on it's own when the keyboard and mouse are idle. That is what the setting "Allow computer to sleep" when sharing media means.

By the way would this have anything to do with my issue?:
    System Availability Requests:System Required Request
The device or driver has made a request to prevent the system from automatically entering sleep.
Requesting Driver Instance HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_10192801&REV_1000\4&3583a3a1&0&0001 Requesting Driver Device Realtek High Definition AudioThis is an entry from my C:\windows\system32\energy-report.html.

Nevermind. I've decided this-- failing to sleep issue when playing media--is acceptable.
