Startup Screen Icon Disappearing: Why ? Hello,
No big deal, but would like to understand what might be happening.
Have "ClipTrak", a cliboard extender on my PC, and an icon to open it up was placed automatically in the area on the bottom of the screen, extreme right.
Not sure of what this area of the bottom taskbar bar is called; start-up, perhaps ?
It stays there for hours, works as it should, then totally disappears until the next PC
shutdown and subsequent start up again.
What might be happening ?
Any curfe ?
Thanks,

Try this. The area that you talk about is called the notification area. You may have, after the last icon, 2 little arrows. These arrows indicate that there are other icons, but hidden. Click on those arrows and you may see the missing icon. What might be happening is that when you boot up, the questioned icon is showing, as the session progresses you use another program, the icon for that program appears, and room is made for it by hiding the icon that you are questioning. This may or not be the answer, but it is one possible scenario. Check to see if it is the corrrect scenario. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

From OP: To Rich... Hi Rich,
Real good possibility, but when it's gone, it's truly gone; even from these
"semi-hidden" ones.
BTW" pressing on the Kudos icon you mentioned won't let me do any more, to you, for a while, I guess.
But, thanks so much for taking the time to help me out, both now and previously.
Really appreciate it.

Try this Robert, Control Panel > Personalization > Taskbar and start menu Notification Area > Advanced Settings. Get back to me when done. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

To Rich 46 from OP Hi Rich 46
Checked all of your suggestions, and everything was set right.
For the past two days, the icons have stayed put.
No idea what, if anything, has changed or is diffewrent.
Have a "feeling" that it might be related to when one switches between the Users on this PC, me and my son, but not sure of this.
Has been well behaved for a while, but sure did drive my crazy, as it did the disappearing act constantly.
Will keep you advised if it goes back to its old ways.
Thanks as always, for help,
