Guest account options/rules

is there any way to set up specific rules to guest accounts? I do not let many people use my computer, but sometimes the girlfriend - or a family member have exceptional rules that, after so much i can take, i give up, and yeah...

Anyways

I don't want them to access important system files
Downloading items and installing software need my password...

etc, I have a bunch of cool ideas for windows 7... Think they ever read our posts?

Hi and welcome Nano

Like what rules? threre is GPedit (group policy editor) but if you want customized rules like Can use computer only when the sun is up, wont work. You can prevent downloading, lock them out after 3login attempts and things like that.

The guest account will always be prompted for the administrator password before any dangerous operation or accessing system folders, files, or tools.

NTFS permissions can control what files a guest can use write, read, or even see.

The guest account by default is quite restricted plus you can use group policy to tighten things still further.

If you want even further control have a look at parental controls which can control such things as what programs may be access and how long a session can last. To use parental controls you would have to create a standard user as this is the only type that can have parental controls applied.

All of these facilities rely on UAC being on for best control
