Windows 7: I have my Toshiba laptop Windows7 Upgrade Media!

And a stupid question. I have my media from Toshiba (I assume one is a Toshiba drivers disk; the other is a Toshiba branded Windows7).



Can I use it to upgrade ANY valid existing Vista license which I already have or must I use it on my Toshiba laptop. Thanks.

Does it have a MS OEM bar-coded Product Key sticker on the Windows 7 DVD included in the Upgrade Kit?

So far all of those have proven to be locked to the mobo in the S/N account of the manufacturer.

According to some reports, MS required this to issue the Upgrade Kit's Product Key license stickers on the DVD.

Another poster on here tonight gave a detailed description of the Toshiba Windows 7 DVD as a customized version with Toshiba interface, no Repair console, but Custom install option with Advanced Drive tools for formatting. Their DVD will boot to clean install.

So it might be useable as an installer as are all Windows 7 DVD's, but use of the activation key is likely restricted to the intended machine.

What does the EULA say? I'm certain if you browse the Toshiba DVD you'll find it there, chapter and verse...

The product key says
"Win Vista HmPrm - Win 7 HmPrm UPG Fulfill"
"TOSHIBA"
I'll read the EULA after lunch...

Blimey, working out which license applies is tricky...
F:\sources\license\_default\_default\homepremium says nothing unusual, e.g.

UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from.

I wonder if I'm looking at the correct license?
