Lots of options not working Hi all,
I've installed Windows 7 Professional several weeks ago and it is mostly running just fine. But there are also a lot of options not working. For example, nothing happens when I: - click My Computer -> Properties
- In the windows update screen, when I click the installed updates link (lower left corner, under see also)
- clicking lots of links in the configuration screen
And I get the error "Interface is not supported" when I: - Right-click my desktop and click Personalize
- Right-click my desktop and click Screenresolution
On my other computer running Windows 7 Ultimate, all works just fine. I've tried searching the net, but can't seem to find anything that even comes close to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Hi rick and welcome
There are several things we need to do to diagnose the problem. In the mean time you can run a system file check. that verifies and repairs system files
ro run type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>SFC /SCANNOW
let us know the results as you may have to run it more than once. tell us waht the report at the end says
Thats pretty safe.

Hi all,
Thanks for the responses.
I've got a student license, so I can only do the upgrade install. My previous OS is XP Pro.
I've already tried going back to a restore point, but even with the first restore point, the problem persists.
I'm at my work right now, but I'll run the System File Check when I get back and post the results. If that doesn't help, I'll try the repair install.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks,

Hey everyone,
I did the SFC, but it said all was well. So I did the repair install, it took forever, but late last night it was finally finished and everything worked once more as it should!
I thank you all!
