    Gadgets gone missing

I just have to have the weather and the calender which hides the watermark. But they keep vanishing. UAC is still on default setting and show icons is also checked. Seems to have started after some windows updates, but not sure. Just happens randomly. I reported it as a bug. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Try running SFC, and you can turn off the gadget platform and turn it back on. Might clear your problem.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Go to Control panel-Programs and Features-Turn Windows Features On or Off-uncheck Windows Gadget Platform, click OK. Reboot, let it do it's thing, go back and re check it, add your gadgets to the desktop.

Nothing, he's just covering up the watermark in the corner with a gadget so it doesn't stand out.

Airbot I followed your directions and after I had rebooted and went back and turn services back on.Wam bam both the weather and calender back on desktop. Thanks you are also right about the calender doesn't hide it that good but takes the focus away from the watermark.

Did the above but not the SFC I will let you know if this fix holds for a while or if it is just temporary. lm

My gadgets have just gone missing too all of a sudden. I'll for sure try out the advice above but grr! My desktop looks so naked!

EDIT: To further irritate me, they're not back after disabling/rebooting/enabling/rebooting them via 'Enable/Disable Windows FEatures'.

Also on the second boot up before i got to the desktop it told me my copy of Windows wasn't genuine and i should purchase (!) a legit copy. When i did get to the desktop and checked in 'System' my copy is activated and verified as genuine. WTH?!

I can go into the gadget box and drag them out but they just don't appear. Also, obviously related, i cannot create a shortcut on the desktop or drag a file to it. Currently scanning my drive for errors...
