    Uninstalled Program Remains on Notification Area List


    I uninstalled Lavasoft Ad-Aware application and noticed that the its program tray icon is still showing on the Notification Area List. Is there a way to remove it?

    Hello Voyager,

    Sometimes the computer will need to be restarted to finish completely uninstalling a program. You might see if this is the case. If not, then resetting the notification area icons may help.

I got a brand new Acer laptop. So far everything I have uninstalled has left icons in the Notification Area settings. I have tried the advice to delete the two registry keys and restart explorer, but that did not help. McAffe, Proshield, all the Acer software is still listed in the Customize area...
Can I add a program to those available for the notification area of the task-bar? How? Can I delete a program from those available for the notification area of the task-bar? How? There are programs that I do not use in the notification area and I want others.

How do I remove items from the notification area list? No biggy, but I've noticed that I have apps listed in there that aren't installed anymore. I've searched the registry for them, but that found nothing.
If Task Manager is not running and I go to the Notification Area Icons List, there is a listing at the bottom for Windows Task Manager. If I try to use the option Show Icon and Notifications, I get the error message that the Icon is Currently not Active. I have tried to reset the Notification...
