    lock option

In windows 7 there a lock option when you go to start/shut down/ lock.
When you lock your computer does the app continue running in the back.
    For example bittorrent? Thanks.

Winlogo+L locks also locks the PC, but yes, you're not logged out and therefore all your programs and services are still running.

Keep in mind if your computer goes into hibernate or sleep mode while locked the programs will stop running. I suppose this is obvious information though.

Your compter will behave in the same fashion, as it does when you switch users, without logging off. The only exception is that no one can use or obtain information from your account.
