Did this just start? If so, do a System Restore back to a point before the problem(s) started.

Hi unluckly7,

What wireless adapter are you using and have you downloaded the latest drivers from the Manufacturers website (not MS update)?

It also might be useful to do an IPCONFIG /ALL from the command prompt as soon as it crashes to see if something obvious is wrong.

You can also do a 'IPCONFIG /ALL >> C:\yourtextfile.txt' to send the data to a text file, if you want to post it here.

Did you try a firmware upgrade for your wireless router?

When it does not shut down it is because some program is not closed. You have to discover the program that causes the problem. Just before you are going to shut down check the task manager alt + contrl+ delete and view the process that are running, the problem is one of those. You could then close a few of those process, make a note of what you are closing and see if you still have the problem. If so try it again the next shut down, but with different process. We should know if about 6 shut downs or less.

You could also try to log off before shut down, that will end a lot of process and you may be able to shut down.

Did you install any drivers for your hardware, or did you let Windows find and install them?
