3.26 GB RAM Usable on 64 Bit???

Okay, this is really weird. Previously, I had had a ordered a kit of 4GB ram with one defective stick. After installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with the good stick, I RMA'd the kit back to newegg. The exchange arrived today, and after installing the new kit of ram, windows only recognizes 3.26GB of it! Under the system information panel, it says:

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.26 useable)

despite me having a 64 bit OS....

Whats up with this???? I Memtested the ram and it shows up as only 3255 MB in there also...

Does anyone know why?

You are going to see something less than the full 4GB "available" depending on your system, video card, etc.
I have 8GB installed and I only have a little over 6 GB free after boot up (and I have very little in startup).

I don't know about the Memory Remap feature since it doesn't exist in my mobo, but that is normal. I have 4.00GB and around 3.1GB is free.

I was wondering if that changing that BIOS setting would do anything, I was just afraid of screwing up some important thing lol....

I will try remapping memory.

Before you fiddle with the BIOS, does the right amount appear in POST? Press Pause to see. Then download HWInfo32 and see if it detects your memory in dual-channel/amount in the summary window. This is normal though.

remapping will allow for both bios/chipset and your OS to see all of it
