Shortcut Placing, & Search Questions ?

    Hello,

I have a shortcut on my desktop to a program.
Would like to make it accessible to the other User of this PC when he logs in.

Do I just make another copy of the shortcut, and put it in his USER Folder ?
If so, will it appear on his Desktop ?
Or, is there a better approach ?

    And,

The Search in W7 sure works a lot better than in XP.

Is there a way, as there was in XP, to limit the search to just between selected dates, or over the past month, kind of option, somewhere ?

There are probbly lots of options for the Search function, but I don't see them anywhere. Is there a listing or a document of how to use Search to the best advantage ?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hello Bob,

If you are in an administrator account, then you can place a copy of the shortcut in his C:\Users\(user-name)\Desktop folder for him to have it. He can then move it where he likes.

The tutorial below can help show you more of the search features that you can use to do this.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Shawn,

    Much thanks for help.

The Link you suggested is really good.

Hate to appear dumber with this stuff than I am, but -

How, and where, do I go pull up the Search Filters menu ?

    Can't seem to find it.

    Thanks,
    Bob

Just type "search file" into the search, and choose the "Change search options for files and folders"

You could always drag the shortcut from your desktop onto the Public desktop. That way, all users can access the program.
