default program for *.m3u

Hello,

A strange thing started to happen to my pc recently. When I double click on a *.m3u file I always goes to that pick a program to open this file dialogue. Even if i set winamp as a default program for this file type it does the same thing.
It doesn't bother me that much but I was wondering if any of you encountered this problem.

Any ideeas on how to fix it ?

Are you selecting "Always open files of this type with this program"?

Of course . Sorry I didn't mention it in the first place.
I have set winamp as the default program with that dialogoe , from the default programs(in the start menu) and from winamp itself.Nothing did the trick.

Hello Marsx,

The default program for m3u file types is "Windows Media Player". The m3u download in the tutorial below can restore the default associations for this for you.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

Hope this helps,
Shawn

It worked in setting wmp11 as the default program for *.m3u files. But if I changed the association to winamp it was the same thing . Did a little more tweaking in winamp and found "Restore file type association at winamp start-up" enabled(don't really understand why a program would have this option and how it got enabled).I disabled it and my problem went away.
