64 bit win 7 O/S and 32 bit programs

If I do a clean install with win 7 64 bit o/s will my M/S office 2007, itunes and some pc games etc still work when I re load them?

Office & iTunes definately will
Most games will as well
If they worked on XP & vista then they should work on 7

All x86 (32 bit) programs will work on a x64 operating system. Some programs (iTunes) also come in a x64 format.

Would so many people be running Windows 7 x64 if such programs like Office wouldn't run? That would be the tech blunder of the decade if such important apps to home and business users wouldn't run on the new, flagship OS. Besides...Vista x64 has been out for three years, and many people have been running that during that entire time without issues.

I must say the help I have received on SF is invaluable.

My skills are very limited I am able to build a system i.e. put all the parts together but when it come to knowing about software issues I am hopeless, mind you the last system I built was as my pc spec (socket A m/b etc)

However, by this time tomorrow I will have bundle of component parts - Asus M4A785TD-V EVO Mother board, AMD Phenom II X4 925 2.8GHz Socket AM3 8MB Cache with some OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10666 Platinum Kit CL7 Ram.

When I put this altogether I intend on installing Win 7 64bit that’s why I was asking the 64bit question.

You'll be very happy with Windows 7 x64 on that system. As far as the parts, it is quite simple to build a system, assuming you have a basic knowledge of what the parts are, and how they connect to each other. My wife built several of her own towers by herself, with very minimal assistance from me. She would always get stuck on the front panel LEDs, so just be sure to keep your mobo manual handy.

Yes the mobo/front panel wires have always confused me too, but I will take my time and read the manual, the rest is pretty simple with sata on the dvd and hdd I might have an old drive with my current win 7 32bit o/s on the ide to use just as a storage drive and to transfer my docs and photos over from although they are all backed up on a WD passport usb drive anyway.

EXTENSA - that is an all encompassing statement that unfortunately isn't true.

There are some 32 bit programs that will not install on a W7 OS, let alone run.
Unfortunately there is only one way to tell and that is by trying to install them.

However, the specific programs in question will run on an x64 system.
