    Hi AceGuy78,

I don't believe downloading music will slow down the computer some website would have hugh Flash or Java contents that might take lot of memory in Task Manager you could see the CPU usage might go high for your browser.

    Hope this helps

    Hi AC and welcome

If you are downloading you are adding things to your computer, would it slow down form that only while it was downloading and even then probably not noticibly.

Hi AceGuy! No, it won't slow down your computer (As long as there are no viruses/malware etc. in any of the files). However after a while it may take a while to access some of your files because of Fragmentation. This is easy to fix though.

Every two months or so, run a Defrag Utility for ALL of your Hard Drives (There's one included in Windows, write Defrag into the start bar).

    Thanks,

If you are going to do extensive downloading of files, you need to defrag much more often than every two months. If you do have a harddrive that is failing, that is more important of an issue than downloading files, and needs to be taken care of quickly. I would do a series of tests with HD Tuner and/or HD Tach, SFC /SCANNOW, CHKDSK /R, etc.. If the drive's problems can't be fixed, backup the drive and get a new one.
