What are "Local system administrator priviledges?"

I have a brand new 64bit machine running Win 7 Ultimate. I have installed many 32 bit programs without any problem at all. However, while my copy of Sony Vegas Pro 32bit installed fine, I just cannot install the 64bit version of the same program. I get this message "Please make sure you have local system administrator privileges on this system." I have tried everything I know including right click "run as administrator" and have been searching the 'net for the last week trying to find answers to no avail. Can anyone here help me please?

You might need to remove the x32 version.

Just as a reminder, if you are going to remove a program, be sure to make a sytem restore point first.

I dont think so because others on the Sony forum run the two versions at the same time. I have a call out to Sony support for an answer. Perhaps its a Sony problem, but I just thought someone on this forum may have encountered the same problem

    Did you find a solution?
I have the same kind of problem. Win 7 will not allow me to install from the Sony self extracting packager .. keeps saying I must have "Local Administrator Privileges".
I have tried many avenues through the change permissions, ownership etc etc plus much hunting on the internet but no go.

It sounds like, for what ever reason, your Sony program wants higher admin privileges. Here is a link on how to get those higher privileges. WARNING: Do so at your own risk, and once you have successfully installed your program, disable this account. You can get into all kinds of problems. Here is a link:

I did find the solution. It was a crook download of the app. I re-downloaded and it installed no prob at all.

Thanks to Alminal for the solution. I started to have suspicions about the app myself when other apps installed with no problems. You have just confirmed that. Thanks again it saves me going crazy trying to find my way through the UAC maze.
