    Just curious

Do you think Microsoft people also come here to get solutions to their problem ? I was just curious to know :)

Good question. How much do you want to bet that the techs at the local computer repair shop use these Windows forums for the problems they can't figure out?

Microsoft person here and yes, these forums have some of the best information and tutorials on the web. We're working on building out the official knowledge base for Windows 7 however, taking into account things we're learning from users on forums like this as well as our Microsoft Answers site. SF is a great resource!

This is only the second time that I have seen a response from anyone from MS before, so if you guys do hang around some, we wouldn't mind if you occasionally stepped in to help out with some of our more enigmatic questions.

I have seen a few. Believe me, Walker and the rest are a real asset to our forum

The Windows Outreach Team has a few people on each major forum, so we take on as many questions as we realistically can. None of us are trained as Microsoft MVPs - we're able to do research and answer quick questions as well as link users to helpful resources, but we can't offer full-blown tech support. That said, I'm always intrigued by the mysteries of Windows

Thanks! Like I said we're not all tech gurus (I don't know why I was given the purple badge...) but we do provide a valuable service and hopefully take some of the load off SF's regular contributors like yourselves!

Thats really cool, glad that we get a few guys like yourself here (I think we have 3...).

As a suggestion, perhaps you guys could help with the parts of Windows we may not be familiar with in Tech Support, such as odd settings, and customization tips we may not know about!
Also, if you guys find that there is a useful tutorial you know, but is not up here, post it!

And the manufacturers help teams do too. Long time ago I needed help from the HP support people. They logged into my system and I could see what the person was doing. She said to me on the phone: "I will look at my resources". What she did was Google and ended up at a Forum where the answer was posted. Then she told me the solution (that I could see on my screen too) - LOL. Since then I took the habit of Googling myself.
