    Strange "boing" noise

Sometimes when using My PC, i hear a "Boing" noises in the background, from my speakers. it goes like this...Boing boing and then after a pause boign again! sometimes it does it till i turn my pc off constantly. i just restarted and it did it twice then stoped. It happened before i even opened any windows. and i have checked my startup programs. and i have looked in task manager for processes aswell!

    Any ideas?

Assuming you want to get rid of the boing, go to control panels/sound/ and look at the sounds tab.

Choose no sounds from the sound scheme dropdown list.

Maybe one of the sounds associated with your theme, just a thought, cause there's quite a few different ones to choose from.

Could "boing" be a beep? Considering that you hear it even when not at desktop, I'm wondering if it could be BIOS beeps. If so, make note of the exact pattern of dots and dashes, so that the code might reveal the problem.

Could be a USB Device trying to connect, had a similar problem with a Web cam on an Acer Laptop it went Boing Boing All the time trying to connect but kept failing.
If you have another USB device try plugging it in and see if it makes the same noise.

Instead of turning off all sounds, which seems a bit much when you're trying to figure out the cause, I would suggest going to the sound scheme settings and play each one of the sounds until you find the one that you're hearing. Then you can see what event(s) is/are associated with that sound and maybe reveal the cause.

If the sounds isn't one of the ones listed there, then it could very well be something related to the hardware itself.
