Hi, new to here and need help with download

Hi Guys,
I'm new to these forums and I need some help. I just downloaded my Windows 7 Home Premium from the student promotion. I am building a brand new computer that is almost done so I needed to make a bootable DVD from the ISO file since it's going on a brand new hard drive.

I was going to follow these instructions:

Make bootable iso from student d/l

I downloaded the files from the promotion to my old computer. It's an old P4 with an old IDE HHD and I was going to burn the DVD and use it to install it on my new computer.

Once the download was completed the compressed file only had one file in it. It was a README.TXT and once I opened it is said this:

This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification

There where no other files in the compressed folder for me to follow the instructions. Can anybody help?

Hello Carlo Gambino, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

I would recommend to you to use the software "ImageBurn" to create and burn the "ISO" file you will need to go on your DVD so you can follow the install instructions for 7: Download it here onto your XP computer

The Official ImgBurn Website

These instructions may help to get you started:

Please let us know if you need anything else?

Cheers!

Thanks for the help. I think I must have downloaded the ready to burn ISO so I can burn it directly to a disk instead of the compresed files. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the quick help.

Burn it at a slow rate.

Use ImgBurn with Verify checked and 4x speed.

Never fails.

Make sure the ISO you load in shows "bootable" in the text at left.

If not verify the ISO checksum with Hashtab against the official RTM HASH given here: http://www.dasmirnov.net/blog/window...-hash-checksum
