    Whatever happened to Search?

Search is all f/u. Whatever happened to 'normal and advanced' search - that is other than the little box under the orb key?

I'm looking for .mbx files (mailbox) and know I have dozens of them, but Search says I have NONE.

I am also getting 'unable to connect to 127.0.0.x' errors.

    Thank you.

Why oh why does the Great Orb of Almighty M$ not do this natively? Shall all who search here yield to google desktop and be done?

Straight from the mouth of Shawn Brink in his tutorial...

...ONLY files that have been INDEXED will be brought forth in search through the Start Menu
This is why the results are lacking from there...

Setting them to allow indexing doesn't mean they are being indexed. Contol Panel (all items)/Indexing options. Click on modify and set up what is/isn't indexed.

Saw that in the tutorial and good advice. I thought I had previously set these options but maybe a reboot / restore reset them.

...and would be the same for me...AND also the same inability to search throughly...

ex. I installed Img Burn on my machine...it's executable is named ImgBurn.exe. If I input that in the start menu it won't find anything but an explorer search will...

Conclusion? The start menu search is basic searching that is only designed to find start menu apps/control panel apps/settings/user files and folders/emails/basic stuff that doesn't require an indepth search
