My Upgrade
I upgraded from Vista. I chose the 2nd option that I thought was a clean install. However after the install I still had all my files and folders on the C: drive. Did I not get a clean install?

NO You have a custom install. You did not format. You can try again. When you get to advanced options (the page that you chose custom) choose advanced and then format. Then it is the same procedure. That is a clean install.
If you did a custom install, according to Microsoft you have a clean install. The Windows.old folder was put on the new install so you could pull what you might need from it. If you use a disk cleanup, which I do not remember how to use, it will delete the folders and logs for the install.
If you check, you will see the registry is clean, which is a large part of a clean install.
Most members here would disagree they feel that the clean install, with the format is the best. It is subjective, but the people here are very knowledgeable. The final call is up to you. Why not search our tutorials, and forum (use search) so that you can do what is the most advantageous course of action for you.
Two hints before you start. Read our tutorials, and you can go to youtube to actually see it done. Wish you all the best and enjoy 7. I know I am.
