Who remembers how to fix Autoplay in XP

A friend lost her autoplay in XP. Since I never used XP, I am a little lost. I played around with the USB/device port Properties > Autoplay tab, but that did not yield anything. It must be a more serious problem. She thinks CCleaner damaged it, but I doubt that. Anybody remember how to fix that?

    Hey whs...

Since I'm using an XP machine right now, I figure I could look into that for you...

My Computer...select the cd/dvd drive, wrong click (okay, right click if you must, but Michael's left handed, so I'm sticking with my wrong click comment) to pull up the properties window, then select the Autoplay tab and change away...

I believe you need to do this for the drive itself...I was able to turn it off, verify that it was gone, then turn it back on and re-test...

    Hope this helps!!

    All My Best,

    Michael

theog, thanks for the link. I will try that when I get to her house.

mkensinger, thanks for trying to help us. What you described was exactly what I was trying to do on her system - but to no avail. With my limited XP skills I was already proud to get that far - LOL. But there must be a more serious problem. Maybe the link from theog will get me somewhere.
