How to launch Group Policy Editor

Hello guys!

I need to know how to launch Group Policy Editor. I already know how to launch it via
Code:
gpedit.msc

But thats not working for me. Maybe because i have SSD disk and I have disabled search and indexing.

So hopefully some genius out there might know of a another way of launching group policy editor.

Hi, Welcome to SF,

You could try this

Windows + R would open RUN
Try to Type under Run see whether it brings

Or

Go To C:\Windows\System32\Gpedit

Hope this helps,
Captain

It certainly has nothing to do with the search configuration. Have you looked in Windows - System 32 to see if the file exists?

Vista and now 7 in 32 and 64 bit.
Actually there is no hint of the file in windows/system32 folder or anywhere else. It seems like gpedit.msc doesn't exist.

By the I am using windows 7 home premium. Is it possible that home premium version was never supposed to have this feature?

Try the Method 2 from this article

How to Open the Local Group Policy Editor in Windows 7 and Vista My Digital Life

If that didn't work try

Start > CMD > Run as admin > SFC/ SCANNOW

Hope this helps,
Captain

I tried the 2nd method but even that didn't show Group Policy Editor

You can try copying gpedit.msc from your Ultimate machine to the Home Premium and see if it works. Many times you can do that. I don't have access to Hom Premium to see if it works.

Let us know if it does.
