Partition Problems in Windows 7

Problem with partioning C drive with an OEM partion has been solved.
Whether it was my own incompetence or a glitch with the process, but I caannot boot from OEM now. Have left it there as it is possibly accessed as part of recovery. But could delete if I want to with Partion Wizard.
Problem was solved by using Partition Wizard Home edition, which is more powerful and flexible than Disk manager in Windows 7. Also used the bootable version which allows you to work more easily on the C drive. In process used Spotmau Power Suite Bootcarte. Had to pay for it. Prob not worth it.
OEm does not work because whilst it was operative the partion would be changed fro logical into Om on reboot. Once it was disabled (or deleted) was able to download windows 7 image from : https://www.sevenforums.com/installat...tml#post446664
Following is instructions from Greg Rocker that lead to solution

If your Recov partition is disabled then you can delete it when you clean install. Back up all your files, boot from Windows 7 DVD, select CUstom then Drive Tools to delete all, create new partition(s) as you wish, then format before installing Windows 7 to first partition.
Did you try Disk Management?

If you have made your Recov disks you can delete that OEM partition. There is a link to Windows 7 installer on the forums tonight where you can download a preferred clean copy DVD of Windows 7 which will activate with the license on your machine: https://www.sevenforums.com/installat...tml#post446664

That way you could either delete the OEM and create new in Disk Mgmt, or just wipe the whole drive by booting from a clean-copy Windows 7 DVD. You would only need to find any wanted apps on your computer maker's Support Downloads page for your model. All drivers are in the installer and via Windows Updates."

I'm not clear enough on it to give you detailed information, but I believe that the reason that you can't shrink the size of C: any more than you have, is because Windows 7 tends to scatter itself across most of the available space on the partition on which it is installed. This is particularly problematic in how it places unmovable files, such as System Volume Infomation and the pagefile. There is a way to disable the SVI via vssadmin command prompts, but I will leave it to someone more familiar to give the syntax. If you disable both of these, you should be able to shrink the size of C: considerably.

Being an amateur, I shrank the C drive of a 1tb drive to 200g being conservative because of the factors that you mention and becuase I am not sure how virtual memory works and I did want to impede that. Speed is the essence for me
I have two logical drives of 480 and 230g respectively. As soon as I had installed some programs Windows 7 disk manger would not let me shrink below 450g. Used partition wizard home edition in its bootable form to do this.
