    Can't make a New Folder

Guys I new at windows7. I running windows7 64bit ultima. At some point with in the last three weeks I most have disable the ability to make a newfolder. This is what I mean....when you right click/ NEW/ there is no selection to make a new folder. I know it was there before but not now. I tryed this and it seems to be OK.
    1. Open the Start Menu.
    2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type ‘regedit’ and press Enter.
    3. Click on Continue in the UAC prompt.
    4. In ‘regedit’, go to:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
NOTE: If New is not in the left pane, then right click on ‘ContextMenuHandlers’ and click New and key. Type in New and press Enter.
    5. To Restore New to the Context Menu -
    6. In the right pane, right click on (Default) and click on Modify.
    7. Type {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719} and press click on OK.
    8. Close ‘regedit’.
I most have disable the fuction some how.... does anyone know how to get the option back in the right click.

    Thanks Bob

Hello Bob, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you get this again for any of the "New" context menu items, this should be able to help you out with it. :)

We were having the same issue here in our office in Alaska.

    Brink's solution worked great.

A co-worker couldn't create new folders anymore. I downloaded and ran the script directly from the website Brink mentioned and it worked the first time.

No having to go in manually and configure registry settings and stuff. Worked first time.

Also, note that when you run the script from the website Brink mentioned you will probably need to reboot before the settings revert.

It didn't work for us at first but after a quick reboot everything worked great.

    Thanks!

It is Jan 2019, and I ran into this problem suddenly on my Win7Pro laptop. I followed the regedit info and it WORKED - no reboot needed. I have no idea why the feature disappeared. The "New" entry under ContextMenuHandlers was missing entirely! Thank you for this post - even so many years after the fact!!
