    Windows 7 icon pictures disappeared

    Hi all!

I have a problem; it happened a few times while I was using the RC, and now for the first time since I bought the final release of Windows 7 Home Premium. Last night, some of my start menu icon pictures disappeared. The picture is replaced with the default "unrecognized file extension" picture as you can see in the attachment. The original .exe's still have their pictures, though. So I tried to delete the shortcuts and re-create them, but they re-create with the wrong picture. I tried to rename the IconCache.db file and restart, but still no luck.

The icon in my taskbar is supposed to be Outlook 2007, by the way.

    Any ideas?

    This is not a fix,but..............

Office shortcuts are totally different than a standard shortcut.

You notice you can't change them like a standard icon.

They get the icon from the c:\Windows\Installer directory

It happens quite often, another bug for Microsoft to fix.

Thanks guys! Solved it. Rebuilding the Icon Cache sorted it out. Earlier I just renamed the file, and the problem remained. After totally deleting the original (and the one I renamed) and restarting, it's sorted now!

    Thanks again!
