Black Screen After Windows Logo Hello
Basically my laptop was working fine last night. I turn it on this morning and after the windows logo appears the screen goes black. However i can see and move the mouse cursor still.
I tried pressing f8 at the beginning of the start up, and tred to repair my problem using the windows 7 repair features, but it didn't work, annoyingly i forgot to set a restore point as well so i can't try that.
When i go into safe mode the exact same thing happens, but with the mouse being slightly more pixelated and blocky.
I've got a Windows 7 Premium 32 bit disk which i purchased from Windows, but when i load that up it tells me that to install it i need to log into windows, which i obviously can't.
I'm using a HP G70-120EM, i've had it for just over 12 months (Annoyingly exactly a week after the warranty is void) and like i mentioned, i've been using Windows 7 premium 32 bit for the past 2 months.
Thankyou in advance | My System Specs |

The loading of drivers and programs continue after the logo screen, so I would guess that one of them is delaying the boot during the "black" phase. Go into msconfig and disable everything on the Startup tab, after selecting the Selective startup on the General tab. If that makes a difference, then reenable the startup items one at a time, until you have pinpointed the problem. There are startup items that are not listed in msconfig, so you might find it useful to try using StartupCPL, which is freeware that you can download. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

I didn't read your OP closely enough. Since you are unable to reach desktop, I would say that you are limited to either the repair function on the Window's DVD, a backup image of the system...if you have one, or a fresh install.
EDIT: You may also be able to perform a repair using the Startup Repair Utility. Usually, a boot menu will appear, if the previous boot attempt is unsucessful, but you may be able to get to it by pressing the F8 key at the beginning of the boot. Also the Windows Repair CD can be used, if you made one. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

Some folks have been able to get back in by removing the laptop battery. While it is shutdown, try unplugging it and removing the battery. Then try booting again.
I have not seen any evidence this will help, but it won't hurt to try. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebuilt OS Windows 7 x64 CPU i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z77-v Pro Memory 8 G Graphics Card GTX 480 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays LG W2753V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives Crucial M4 128 G SSD |

Okay, i've bought a Windows (Windows 7 compatible) recovery disc from eBay and hopefully that will do the trick. I just want to be able to retrieve my files basically. I'm sick of this laptop constantly letting me down. | My System Specs

Basically i was told the laptop came witha recovery tool built in (Which it does, it allows me to restore to an earlier point or save my files onto a usb and then restore), so i didn't make a recovery disk. I just thought i would ask if there was any other solutions as this problem keeps occuring so i might recover my files and then get a new laptop. | My System Specs
