Windows 7 DirectX version
Hi all,
I would like to know which version of DirectX is included in Windows 7? Is it 10.1 or 11?
Thanks!
Hi all,

Yes, indeed it's DX11.
To find what version of DirectX you're running, open start menu and type dxdiag at the search box and press enter.
If you run a WEI assesement though , (Windows Experience Index) you might see DX10 . Don't let that disturb you. That is what your graphics card supports, not Windows.
Well if you have an older version of windows 7( i have build 7057) it i will show directx 10.1,
Cuz it's an experimental version
but on 7057 it is offical directx 11
OK cool :) Thanks a lot!
Yes it has dx 11 but because (a) there is no software to support it and (b) there is no hardware to support it you are effectively running dx 10.1 - 10.0 - 9c depending on your hardware. Only when new hardware and software that supports it comes along will you be able to run in dx11. I think its only to do with the shaders anyway so there is no BIG difference. Myself am running 10.1 but cant see the changes in games when I fire them up in dx9c mode. By the way if you type in start search dxdiag then enter you will get the information and more that you seek.

Actually Direct X 11 is quite a bit different to the previous versions.
Here's some info.....bit-tech.net | Feature - DirectX 11: A look at what's coming
Hmmm with dxdiag command i have DirectX 11 and in EVEREST Home Edition I have DirectX 10.1. That's what my video card can support max. OK I understand much better now, cause I was confiused. Thanks again!
Most games and programs don't even use the special features of DX10 (which I know like easier programming which means better performance, and some minor visual changes) but now we really need DX11 , LOL people! Why not start designing DX12 just now?
