    intuitive file numbering

    hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for these forums and all the useful information. It's helped me set up Windows 7 and tweak it to my own needs.

So I have a question.... and before I ask it, I can tell you I've already hunted high and low for any information on this and can't find it.

Windows XP uses what MS calls 'Intuitive Filename Sorting'. So files are ordered in Windows Explorer like this

    abc1
    abc4
    abc05
    abc005

TweakUI has a setting to disable this and order files like so

    abc005
    abc05
    abc1
    abc4

I want to do the same in W7, but for the life of me, I can't find a setting for it.

Is there a TweakUI for 7? Or does anyone know the registry entry that controls the file ordering in W7?

    TIA

Hello Mac, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if this may be able to allow you to do what you are wanting.

Sort Order - Numbers in File and Folder Names - Vista Forums

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Brink,

That worked perfectly. Thanks a lot!

It didn't occur to me to check the Vista tutes. Doh!
