Hello Everyone! This is my first post on these forums.
I am having a minor issue with Windows 7:
If I incorrectly shut down my computer (e.g. pulling the plug out of the socket while computer is running), and turn it on again, it won't say "starting windows", it will say "resuming windows", and it will log in to a user account. How do I disable this from happening?
btw, I have an HP Pavilion p6240

Welcome to the Forum.
One of the worst things to do is to shut down by pulling the plug.
If I were you. I would go to search type cmd
Do not hit enter, right click on cmd and select run as administrator.
Then in CMD type sfc /scannow. This will correct any small problems created by the improper shut down. If errors are found run a second time.
It kind of sounds as though you have the advanced power settings enabling either hibernation, sleep or hybrid sleep. I'm not certain of their behavior, because I never use any of them, but that is where I would start looking.

I ran into a similar issue with a family member's computer. I completely disabled hibernation on the PC and the issue hasn't come back since.
