    Windows.old - cannot delete

I just updated to Win 7 (Pro) from Vista (Business)

It took a couple of goes, as I neglected to uninstall Kaspersky during the first pass.

Now I have 'Windows.old' directory under C: which I am unable to delete (dated and time-stamped at about the time as my first attempt).

When I try to delete it, it complains that 'this item is no longer under C: '

How can I delete this entry from the C: directory listing? (If it really does not exist any more, why is it showing up as a directory?)

PS I have seen the tutorial here:
    Windows.old Folder - Delete

it does not work for me.

    thanks

Try the Disk Cleanup utility. It can remove windows.old, if it's still present.

(Quick way to get to it: enter "disk" in "Search programs and files".)

Hello Occam, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if you can delete the C:\Windows.old folder from a elevated command prompt instead then.

Folder - Delete from Command Prompt

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
