    Why won't the taskbar auto-hide?

Anyone else seen this. I cannot get the task bar to auto hide. I tell it to auto-hide, but it always stays on top, which is annoying because it covers other useful stuff.. Any help appreciated..

No problem here. I assume that by "telling" it to autohide, that you are selecting that option on the Taskbar tab of the Taskbar and Start Menu's properties. If that be the case, I don't know the solution to the problem. Has it always been that way, or did it change at some point?

    Maybe you forgot "Apply".

    Did you do this?
I don't see any other issues.

Yeah.. that is the function I am selecting, as well as apply. For some reason the task bar does not auto-hide. I have tried it on my computer, as well as my father's. He is the one I am asking for, as I have no interest in auto-hiding the task bar. For him, it is really annoying..

I would guess that there is some program installed on both computers that is interfering with that operation. Have no idea what, but it would probably be one loading at boot.

I think seekermeister is right. For a test, disable all startups and see whether it works.

The solution in that thread made sense - active notifications blocking it. You probably don't want the taskbar hidden if there is e.g. a security notification awaiting your action. In fact, in such a case you want the taskbar popping up when it was hidden.
