Why won't the taskbar auto-hide? Anyone else seen this. I cannot get the task bar to auto hide. I tell it to auto-hide, but it always stays on top, which is annoying because it covers other useful stuff.. Any help appreciated.. | My System Specs |

No problem here. I assume that by "telling" it to autohide, that you are selecting that option on the Taskbar tab of the Taskbar and Start Menu's properties. If that be the case, I don't know the solution to the problem. Has it always been that way, or did it change at some point? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

Yeah.. that is the function I am selecting, as well as apply. For some reason the task bar does not auto-hide. I have tried it on my computer, as well as my father's. He is the one I am asking for, as I have no interest in auto-hiding the task bar. For him, it is really annoying.. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Amd 5400+ dual core overclocked to 3.0 ghz Motherboard EVGA 590 sli aM2 Memory 8gb 5-5-5-5-15 g-skill Graphics Card Nvidia 9800gt 512mb Sound Card M-Audio Delta 2496 Monitor(s) Displays Acer 22 inch lcd Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard some rubbish I found in my garage Mouse logitech PSU 650 watts Case Antec Sonata II Cooling Zallmen Xpu cooler Hard Drives Hmm

I would guess that there is some program installed on both computers that is interfering with that operation. Have no idea what, but it would probably be one loading at boot. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

The solution in that thread made sense - active notifications blocking it. You probably don't want the taskbar hidden if there is e.g. a security notification awaiting your action. In fact, in such a case you want the taskbar popping up when it was hidden. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 Why won't the taskbar auto-hide? problems?
