    Ghost icons left on taskbar

I keep getting these ghost icons that won't leave. I tried reinstalling, but they're coming back. Any ideas? The last time they filled the whole taskbar.

I have seen this issue reported multiple times on various builds - it was a lot more prevalent for me personally on build 6801, especially with Irfanview, but not so much no on build 7048.

I get this sometimes, I just either click on the taskbar or the image itself and it goes away.

Interesting. Irfanview is the only specific program that left these behind - this example is a dialogue box I think. Is there any way to flush these out, even if I have to replace the others? The last install had a good 20 of them.

    Hello miss carrie,

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

The store for pinned items is located here. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

It is not a pinned item, though, but a ghost of the application as it was running after it has ceased to run.

I have found that the application is hanging , and even task manager was not always successful on getting it removed.

However, I can officially say that, thus far, on build 7048 x86-64, I have not had it happen once. On 7048 x86, it has happened twice - but both times if twas an application hang, and when the application caught up the item did finally go away.
