    Explorer Icon Won't Pin

    Hello all,
This problem started long while ago, I don't quite remember how but the pinned explorer icon on my taskbar one day disappeared, and now when I open explorer and right click it "Pin this program to taskbar" it just doesn't do anything. I close the explorer folder and the icon disappears from the taskbar as if I hadn't pinned it.
Even after right clicking it again I still see "Pin this program to taskbar" rather than "Unpin...".

This problem only happens with explorer.

I've searched google and this forum a couple of times already without finding any similiar issues or solutions.
Does anyone know what I could possibly do to get explorer pinned again?
    Thanks.

    Try restarting explorer.exe.

Right click on the taskbar > start task manager > under processes kill explorer.exe > then under applications click new task... > type in 'explorer' (no qoutes) and try pinning again

    Hi,

    Welcome to 7 forums :)

    * This issue seems strange to me . If the above poster's instruction doesn't work, please try the below:

However, you can check if your task bar is locked or vice-versa. And then try to pin the Explorer. Make sure you close all other windows before you try. !!!

Thanks everyone, but I've tried what you said and nothing worked.

Maybe there's something I could change in the registry manually to make it pin?
Also I forgot to say, if I drag the any folder to the task bar it says "Pin to windows explorer", as if explorer is already pinned :s

Now, you right click the Task bar, go to Toolbars option, Check if 'Quick Launch' is enabled. If yes, disable it and try again. Coz, quick launch won't work with 7, which might cause the issue in your case !!!

If that doesn't work, you can add the drives as Tool Bar in your taskbar, until we find some solution to this :)

In the toolbars option I don't have any 'Quick Launch' to choose

    How do I add it?

Right click on the taskbar > toolbars > New Toolbar... > Click on the libraries folder > Select folder

    Good to go

In the same 'Tool Bars' option, Just select New Tool Bar. You will get a window to select Folders. Just Click on C drive from the left side panel and click add. Do the same for all drives. You can also add folders in the same way :)

Tool bars > New Tool bars > (any required Drive or folder )
