I stopped using startup managers like WinPatrol because they add to Startup time and can have issues.
Best to just turn off everything except AV and gadgets unless there's one or two others you can't wait to startup when needed. Windows 7 performance will show its appreciation. | My System Specs |

For even better performance replace the MucAfee bloatware with lean lightweight MSE or Avast 6. Agreed. When I went from Mcafee to MSE, MSE even found a Trojan missed by Mcafee.
If you do switch, be sure to use the uninstall tool provided by Mcafee. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Sometimes you will find that you also need to also let the synaptics touchpad driver install.
Greg has given you some excellent advice. If you would like you can use the following procedure and we can look at precisely what msconfig shows as starting. LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)
Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.

Each to their own of course Greg. I've used WP for years and suffered only one minor glitch with a particular update. Otherwise it's always saved me far more boot time than it costs. When I installed Soluto (for a looksee) it calculated that WP added under two seconds. It suits me because it delivers the volume of starts I require in 44 seconds, whereas Windows/msconfig is over a minute. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number COMPAQ CQ5115 OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33GHz Memory 8 GB Graphics Card Intel GMA 3100 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD TFT Screen Resolution 1440 x 900 Keyboard Logitech UltraX Mouse Logitech MX400 Hard Drives 1x internal 500 GB

I use it all the time (the pro version) and never had a problem. I like it especially for easy of delaying startups. For the every day user, MSCONFIG is plenty. For the advanced user, there is autoruns, procexp, and procmon. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD A10-4600M Motherboard AMD Pumori (Socket FT1) Memory 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-12-28) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7660G Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Screen Resolution 1600x900@60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives SSD 119GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device Internet Speed What the local pub, local coffee shop offers. If you have no startups besides AV and gadgets, which gives best performance, why would you need WinPatrol or Soluto? To delay System services?
