    Sys. Clock


    I have a problem with my sys. clock keeping time. It will sometimes keep the right time but generally I will have to reset it via internet time. This problem has occured since I installed Windows 7 priemium.

    I have a Dell Laptop XPS M1530

    Check Cmos battery.

    Is the time accurate at boot?

    You may need to replace the computer's battery.

    The computer battery is reading 100%. How do I check the CMOS? I am a newbie so make it as simple as possible.

    The time is always off after a shutdown & then when I start back up.

    I meant to just check the CMOS battery. If you are sure it is not the battery, you may want to read these posts.

    Changing the battery will not be the issue here but accessing it may well be

    If this laptop is still under warranty from Dell then they should do this change for you on request.

    If it is out of warranty or the time that dell will take is an issue, and you feel up to the task you can do it yourself

    Where is The CMOS battery located in the M1530 and how is it attached etc????

    If you need to go at the battery attached to the motherboard of your laptop.
    Download the manual from the Dell site for your machine.

    Thanks for the advise folks. Thanks to Barman58 for the disassembly instructions. I believe it to be the cmos battery but being a one eyed shaky old 78 yr old young man will take it to a local geek. However I will keep u fellas advised on th final result. :)
