Can I run Windows 7? [SPECS INSIDE]

Hey guys I currently have windows XP SP3 and I want to know if I can run Windows 7 smoothly and without lag. What's the lowest WEI score you should get in order to run Windows 7 well?

Here are my specs, please tell me if they can run Windows 7.

    Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz 2.99GHz
    4.00 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon x300

Please reply if I can run W7 well ASAP.

    Thanks in advanced

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scans your PC for potential compatibility issues and lets you know about your Windows 7 upgrade options. Within minutes, you'll get a report that tells you if your PC meets the system requirements, if any known compatibility issues with your hardware, devices, and installed programs are found, and gives guidance on what to do to before installing Windows 7 on your PC.

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is taking forever. I remembered I got a 2.2 on my WEI score before when I used Windows 7. Is 2.2 on WEI score good enough to run it?

Don't bother. If you want to enjoy Windows 7, build a new PC that would be 3x faster.

I'm going to college in a few years and I don't want to spend money on a new PC when I won't have a need for it in college since I'll be using a laptop. Can my computer run Windows 7?

Yes, but not too well. Your GPU is obsolete:

    ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver

It doesn't support WDDM 1.1, which is necessary for the best performance, but it should work OK.

Will the GPU affect the memory usage/speed?

Not particularly, but you will probably notice the performance hit.

    Performance hit as in lag?
