    Running Windows 7

    Hi,

I'm interesting in running Windows 7 on my current desktop PC as I'm sure it would be able to run it quite well.

I do not want to partition my drive however, I'd rather buy a new hard drive and run it on that. I was just wanting your input really, on what harddrive I should purchase, and generally how to install it. To be honest, I might just wait to see if they will release the official beta in mid-december and go from there, but if not - I've noticed that it's difficult to actually install one of the current builds.

    Thanks in advance!

It is not at all difficult to install W7. Once you have downloaded it all you have to do is burn the .iso file to a disc.

Install it and use the Blue Badge removal tool under tutorials and bob's your uncle.

It runs extremely smoothly for a pre-beta, but if you have any concerns, wait for the Beta.

And as for the hard drive advice, just buy whatever will fit in with your set up, it does not have to be a huge hard drive. But if you have the space on your hard drive why not dual boot?

I do have enough space but I really do not want to mess around with partitions. I did it along time ago with my Vista laptop and Ubuntu, however Ubuntu was installed over random Vista/Lenovo drivers and special information and I couldn't get into Vista. The problem was all sorted and I have partitioned my little Eee PC with XP and Ubuntu since, but I'd rather get a completely new harddrive for this, incase there are any problems or something.

Are there any tutorials available yet, of installing Windows 7? I know it's a long shot but I hope there are some. Thanks. :)

After burning your disc - you run it and follow the prompts, it is really as easy as that! Your wireless setup will happen during the set up.

After the install do updates through the Windows update and make sure that all your drivers are installed.

You are then up and running.

Oh ok, sounds easy! Is it possible for you to show me a link (PM me?) to the latest build please? I don't want to download something wrong, or something that contains a virus... lol.

I'm bidding on a new hard drive which is the exact model of the one I current have which runs Windows Vista. I'm also planning on getting 4GB of RAM, instead of 2GB, just to help it a little. I shouldn't have a problem with my computer spec, but just to be sure.

Does anybody have a link to the latest build? And is it the first official beta that's going onto Microsoft Connect... or is it a Pre-Beta?
