I have no idea of what is going on, but since I read a thread here just a bit earlier about how to log on to a remote computer with RDP, without bumping the logged in session, and the other user not knowing anything about it, the first thing that I would do is to log into Safe Mode and check that Remove Access Connection Manager, Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, Remote Desktop Configuration and Remote Desktop Service items were disabled. This may not have anything to do with the problem, but it is a place to start. If you can reach Safe Mode desktop, it wouldn't hurt to do some scans with Malwarebytes, SpyBot and your AV.
If that doesn't help (and maybe if it did), I would then do a system restore to a point just prior to when this problem appeared. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DIY OS W7x64 Pro, SuSe 12.1/** W7 x64 Pro, XP MCE CPU Phenom II 1090T w/Noctua NH-D14 /**4400+ X2 w/CM Hyper TX 3 Motherboard ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4/**A8N-SLI Memory 2 x 2GB Patriot PGS34g1600LLKA/**4x1GB Corsair VS Graphics Card EVGA GTX460 SC/**EVGA 8800GTS Sound Card Asus Xonar D2X/**Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233H, Dell E152FPc /**LG M237-WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 & 1024x768/**1980x1080 Keyboard Logitech Media USB/**Saitek Eclipse Mouse Cordless Trackman Wheel/**Ditto PSU CM RS600 w/ APC BX1000G/**Antec 500 TP w/ APC BX1000 Case HAF922/**Antec 1040IIB Cooling 3x200mm, 1x140 and 1x120mm/**5x80mm fans Hard Drives WDC 2TB, 1.5TB, 1TB, 500GB,Seagate 500GB , Maxtor 80GB /**500GB Seagate & WDC 1TB Black Internet Speed 3.3Mbps Other Info SB 560 5.1 w/ Sennheiser RS140/**Creative T20 speakers, Dvico FusionHDTV7 Gold RT, Cisco E3000, HP 5510V AIO, Linksys E3000, Belkin F5U237 hub and **F5D8055 adapter

I've got the same issue, and I don't think we're alone!
Once I've had the error I can ctrl+alt+delete to get the Log-off/restart options, but none of them do anything. Task manager won't run either.
It boots into safe mode fine, and so far I have tried:
1) Full system virus scan overnight
2) System restore back to a point on Tuesday morning (26th Jan)
3) Disable all Remote Desktop related services in msconfig
4) Run CCleaner and its registry cleaner
5) Run a quick scan with Malwarebytes
6) System restore back to a point on 20th Jan
I'm now going to run a full Malwarebytes scan over lunchtime.
But nothing seems to working ... any ideas..? | My System Specs | | |

Same issue here as of this morning.
Our Dell came installed with Vista and we did an in place upgrade to Windows 7. Has anyone else here in the same situation or was your machine newly installed as 7 ?

AtBroker.exe error, can't login I ran some Windows updates last night (not sure exactly which ones, whatever the latest were). Now, when I try and boot into the machine I get an AtBroker.exe and Explorer.exe error and the screen goes black. I can control-alt-delete to log off, but that's about it. No way into the machine.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix?
Thanks,
Kristin. | My System Specs | | OS Windows (XP, Vista, 7) & OS X (10.4, 10.5, 10.6) |

atbroker.exe I also just started getting the same problem. I had Vista and upgraded 'in-place' to Windows 7. Worked ok for a while, now when I startup I get the atbroker.exe notice (and also iexporer.exe notice) and then I get a black screen and the system just doesn't do anything else.
Suggestions?
I could logon in safe mode, but then Windows would not let me try to re-install Windows 7. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 upgraded in place from Visto |

Once I messed up shell32.dll, and got the same message as you, I have made a recovery disc earlier and system restore was the cure Or try with your Windows 7 cd.
Hope this helps,

Trying a System Restore.
I haven't "messed" with anything, so not sure why (other than the fact that I'm running Windows) this happened.
Ctrl-Alt-End didn't do anything (I know that's supposed to kick out the remote desktop or whatever, but didn't seem to work)?
