    New to 7 - a couple questions

Just set up W7 Pro...3 initial questions please....

    1) In sleep mode...will my anti-virus full scan/system scans, etc continue...or is it suspended until W7 'wakes up' ?

    2) Can W7 Auto Backup do 'incremental' BU's ? In normal default settings...will the weekly backups (Let Windows choose) simply over-write the former weeks backup ?
Any opinions on 'Let Windows Choose' and 'Let me choose' options ?

    3) What's the difference/benefits or doing a normal Backup and 'Creat a System Image'
    operation ?

    Thanks much, Tim

    Hi there,

    1) In sleep mode, your anti virus will not be able to scan. However, it can scan if the computer is idle.

    2) Yes, the weekly backups over-writes the previous back ups. In "Let windows choose" back up, places like Desktop, Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc are backed up.
So if you store your stuffs on these folders, then "Let Windows Choose" Backup is for you.

    3) Normal back up will just create back ups of your files and folders from certain places. creating a system image will back up the entire C:\ Drive so that in case things go wrong, you can restore the entire C: Drive (which includes system files, programs, settings, personal files, etc).

    Hope this helps,
    Dinesh. :)

    Hi trinaz.:)

    In answer to your questions.

    1. No, a scan will not take place during sleep mode. While the PC is in sleep mode/standby, all activities are actually halted, network connections are closed and the CPU and RAM are placed into a low power consuming state. The scan will normally resume once the PC "wakes" and resumes normal processor activity.

2.Backups are created in sets known as backup periods. To help maximize your disk space, Windows Backup backs up all selected folders the first time it's run and then it only backs up files that are new or have been modified since the last backup was made. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys...and thanks for the links...one more clarification question. What's the difference between Windows "Create Disk Image" and something like Seagate's 'clone a disk'...or for that matter..Acronis' or Easeus' 'disk copy' ?

Do they all do the same thing ?
