Fix for problem

I am using a Windows Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 and have been having this same problem. I just installed the latest Windows 7 driver rather than use the installed driver and the problem is resolved. If you are using a Windows mouse, just install the intellimouse drivers.

My unit would not go to sleep until I closed Magic Jack. Once I exited MJ, the computer goes to sleep correctly. It appears that with all the issues with this that it has to be a win 7 problem as it didnít happen with vista but I still like os7

Windows 7 screen saver and sleep not working

My screen saver would not work, but that did not bother me. My monitor would never turn off, no matter how many minutes I set the timer. I had to unplug MagicJack to get the timer to work properly. This is just another of the annoying shortcomings of MagicJack, but you would think that Microsoft would have a fix for this.

I am glad that one resolve was found for more than just me, now on to the next problem.
How about the 32 to 64 bit conversion!

I had Windows 2000 Pro. Installed the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit upgrade, quick, easy, no problems. It saved the old 32 bit apps in a separate partition. Only a few had to run in compatibility mode.

Screen Saver FIXED

WOW...thanks to this forum, my screensaver works.
I couldn't figure out for the life of me why my screensaver (no matter what I used) wouldn't work with MS Windows 7. I searched and searched trying all that I could and I FINALLY came across this forum THANK GOD and tried the unplugging of my Microsoft USB Wireless Mouse and BAMM...OMG that actually WORKED. Thanks you VERY MUCH for your help. Anytime I have trouble with my computer...I'm coming here first!

I had exactly this problem. After a clean install of Windows 7 64bit, screen saver and power savings settings did not work. I have a Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse, and discovered in Device manager that Windows 7 had just loaded default drivers for these. Clearly these drivers do not do the full job and the hardware gets in the way of the power saving settings.

I went to the Microsoft hardware support page at Software Download and downloaded the specific drivers for my keyboard and mouse. (check the model name on the back of them) After a reboot everything works perfectly. Problem solved

Count me in as another really happy sevenforums visitor. I just got a new system with Windows 7 in the past week, and have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why none of the power management stuff was working, even though I know very well how to set it.

Based on what I saw in this thread, I tried unplugging and then replugging my wireless optical mouse. I guess it worked for somebody, but sadly, not for me.

I went off in search of an updated driver. My mouse is a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000; purchased 18 months ago. The Microsoft site seemed to suggest that there is not a driver new enough to be compatible with 7, so no luck there either.

So, I pulled out the wired mouse that arrived with the system, plugged it in, and voila! Screensaver!

Many thanks to those of you I've never met who have helped me love my new system even more!

Oh, and hi, by the way.
