Quick question about default logon background in 7068

I remember that the main complaint people had about the new default logon screen in build 7057 was that it was too bright. As soon as I saw pics of 7068, and furthermore as I began the install process, I noticed that the default background was made considerably darker, and overall much more appealing. I looked through the files in my 7068 iso, but I did find indeed it was better.

However, I had used a program to tweak the logon for 7068, but now I kind of want the new default one included in 7068. When I select "revert to default in the program" though, it reverts it back to 7057s logon background. So I'm wondering, did the 7 team just not update the default logon screen, or is the programs "default" just the one that was in 7057?

Here's an image for comparison of the how the different images look. The reason I don't just use the image in the CD is that the only resolution i can find is 1024x768

    Hello Napilopez,

You might use this tutorial to change the log on screen on the next install or reinstall instead. When undone, it goes back to the same default log on screen for that build automatically.

Thanks brink! I tested it, and indeed they did not update the logon screen for this release if I did everything correctly, unless there is some quirk to upgrading builds as opposed to a clean install. They will/have probably apply/applied it in the oncoming builds.

Either way, I decided to just make my own even darker version of the included 1028x768 image(I just applied autolevels in Adobe Fireworks). It resizes decently to 1280x800 after a bit of sharpening, although the aspect ratio is of course messed up. This is the edited image I used. A bit rough, but it works:

I like that look napilopez, it's shaded pretty nicely and I prefer deeper blues.

Thanks Chappy, same here! I felt the old one was bordering too much on cyan. The shades of blue are more dynamic here. I'll prolly fix up the rough areas around the leafs when I get the chance.

You're welcome Napilopez. I like the one you modified as well. It has less of that pastel Easter look to it.

    Thanks Brink =]

    And thanks YupYup!

Now I went and made some more modifications Although i can't quite replicate the little fluffy cloud and some of the shading the vista team implemented in the new background, I went with a bit less of a saturated blue. To some it may look kinda pale, but I personally like it subdued like that. The higher res images helped deal alot with the artifact issues =] Incase anyone is interested, I have 3 versions, one which is just the fixing of the colors, and the second and third with some added lens blur effect.

Hopefully someone might like them All are in 1920x1200, so resize appropriately if need be.

Perhaps we should start a logon picture thread? I don't think choosing a logon screen is quite the same as choosing a wallpaper, but maybe thats just me.

EDIT: Ehh, might as well complete the square of attachments XD, Imma add a color variation I did to one of the vista aura backgrounds. Just made it bluish and more pale, so it wasn't overly bright like before. This one however, I only have in 1280x800.

EDIT 2: Now in 1920 x 1200, for you high res peepz :P
