    Works 9 Won't load

I purchased a new Dell with Windows 7, included in the package was a disc with Windows Works 9, however when I insert the disc it is not recognized nor will it install. Any ideas as to why? Thanks

First lets not assume that it is compatible with Windows 7, just because it was in the package. Try this and report.

Fill in your sys spec's first so we can determine if you have a dvd/cd -rw, is works 9 on a dvd or cd, is your dvd-rw being recognized by os, just a few things to check.

Is there any message popup when you try? Can you see the files in a file manager pointing to the drive containing the disk(s)? If so, did you try running it as administrator, or in compatibility mode? If all of these fail, try installing it in Safe Mode. If that fails, I would be talking to the vender about a replacement.

I don't see an optical drive in that list. Did you go to the Device Manager an expand the line for DVD/CD drives?

FWIW I have Works 9 preinstalled on my brand new Win7 x64 system and it is definitely compatible. It is however installed to the Programs(x86) folder, so it must be a 32bit version. Must not be available in native x64 yet. Maybe the disk is just bad? Try it in another pc maybe, to rule that out. If bad, you could try asking Dell for a new one.
