Windows 7 - Windows7 computer hangs

Windows 7 64 bit ultimate external drive 1TB IEEE1394 connected. Copied 5 GB from HD to External drive. Halfway the computers goes mad reporting 1800 times a warning ID51 Error on device (external drive) during paging.
Just ran a test connected the same external to a XP pro computer. No problem at all. Checked the disk no problems. Connected the same external drive to the Windows7 computer again , tried to copy 5 GB and halfway the computer hang again. Same warnings, same reports in the logs.
Any suggestions how to solve this, please?

Thanks for your help. Analyzing the info it had to be the IEEE 1394 driver. Hardware OK, memory test OK, motherboard OK,external drive OK, worked fine on the usb slots, yes it had to be the driver. But I couldn’t find a more actual driver than I had on the system. Went into device manager and every time the system said that I had the best one installed. When I looked manually for the driver (same path) I found a new one and an old one. Same number but new and old? Installed the old one and the IEEE1394 including the external drive are doing fine.
In fact simple but you don’t think of going back to an older version. Problem solved.
