Are OEM license keys locked language-wise?

I'm on the verge of buying a new notebook. Needless to say, this comes with an OEM version of windows 7 home premium.

I have been running any and all OS on my computer in en-us for the past four years or so and I wish to keep it that way. Unfortunately, none of the retailers I've asked could provide me with an en-us version of windows 7.

So, can I use my iso image that I acquired from MSDN along with my key from the retailer? I can use the MSDN license for now, but this license expires late december 2010.

I know the enterprise and ultimate versions of windows 7 can change language, but its rather irrelevant at this point since very few notebooks are shipped with these versions and even fewer without an operating system at all.

I called microsoft support and got a blunt "no" in response. License keys does not work across languages.

Hello k4emic, welcome to Seven Forums!

Thanks for the info, though it's not surprising as MS will not support OEM versions of Windows, it's meant to be used by PC system builders and they're responsible for the support, as per the EULA.
