Registry Key show UAC level?
Hi,
I'm looking for a registry key that shows what level UAC is set. I already know the key that shows if UAC is enabled.
Thanks

I think that is what you are looking for.

Hi,
I'm looking for the Reg Key. I use BGInfo to post system info on the desktop and right now I have the key that tells if UAC is enabled but I'd like to show what level instead of just enabled\Disabled. The UAC settings in Control panel don't help with this.
Thanks
Hi Loki,
You can look in the registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
in the manual section of METHOD TWO in the tutorial below to see the values for the System key. You can change the option in the Control Panel and refresh the registry to see the different value for each setting.

Hope this helps,

Hi Brink,
That is where I get the Enabled or Disabled from "EnableLUA" but that is a 0,1
I've looked at the other keys and it takes 3 keys to determine the level
"EnableLUA", "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin", and "PromptOnSecureDesktop"
So I'm trying to modify my script to output using those and was hoping maybe someone knew one key that had it in a 0,1,2,3.
My current script works and I show on the desktop either
UAC Status: "Disabled" or "Enabled"
ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin = 0 Disabled, 5 lowest, 5 default, 2 highest
Unless I missed something.
Thanks

See Method Two to compare notes to see if you have the same.

Hi Brink,
Thanks and those are the settings I got. My poor script writting is what has me at the moment because of the 2 reg keys the ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin uses 5 for the middle 2 UAC and PromptOnSecureDesktop for the highest 2 so to get it to show the correct value I have to read both keys. I'm getting close and learning.
Good news is that I have a script that should work on Vista, bad news I don't have Vista
Thank you for your replies, it was your TUT on Vista that showed me how to do the script for Vista.
You're welcome Loki. I happy to hear that you have got it all sorted. :)

Hi,
I got the script working, if anyone else uses Sysinternals BGInfo and would like to know how to show the UAC level with BGInfo I'll post the script if allowed.
I posted the code in the sysinternals forum if you want that link I can post it.
Thanks for the help!
