    Welcome to the forum

    Try an alternate form of entry

    Type notification in search and see if that works.

    If that does not work, set up a "test" Administrator account and test that. Your account may be corrupt.

    Retore the arrow.

    For some users setting the very first icon to Always Hide, restores the arrow.

    Notification Area Arrow Missing - Windows 10 has a DIFFERENT METHOD

    Windows 10 has a different solution, but it's easy.
    Open SETTINGS using the START menu
    or (geek humor here: Right click on the CLOCK and select PROPERTIES - crazy, huh?)
    anyway SETTINGS->SYSTEM->Notification & actions
    Click on "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" -> new screen
    "Always show all icons in the notification area" - SWITCH TO 'OFF'
    Magically, as you watch, you will see the systray icons toggle between appearing on the taskbar or being hidden with the little up arrow that opens the small window.
    Oh, happy day.
    Hope this helps.
