Me too , I do not have 1 icon on my desktop. I love it when I see someone with 50 or so icons on their desktop. But that`s their choice.

OK if you click on the control panel icon it opens the condensed control panel, was anyone able to delete that one and put the icon that opens the expanded control panel . And I don`t mean the large icon on the taskbar. I can get that icon there.

For some strange reason, on mine, there are 2 control panel icons. 1 opens the category view, the other opens the icon view

There`s just gotta be a way to delete some of these , I really don`t want the recycle bin icon there. And If you make your other taskbar icons small , I usually like them large ( bad eyes ya know ) they all blend together.

lol I think I should been a little clearer!

Please follow these steps to get in my situation:

In Windows 7 --> right-click on the start button and click on 'Properties' --> click on 'Toolbars' --> check the 'Desktop' box and press OK.

Now you've entered a world of pain. A stupid 'Desktop' writing has appeared reminding me that the button is for the desktop which I already knew. Don't bother trying to get rid of the writing, if you do then Win7 will get angry and torture you some more.

After clicking on this new button which has correctly appeared, I get a nice pop-up listing everything on my desktop and every item is clickable which is nice. Only 1 slight problem though, I have 23 billion things on my desktop so I must scroll down the pop-up list but I can't because for some reason the scroll function on my touchpad doesn't work, even though it works on every other program/other part of Windows 7.

If you right click the desktop toolbar you'll see "show title". Untick it.
