    Taskbar sometimes disappears

What up with that? I am running a freshly installed Win7 x64 Ultimate (installed yesterday according to all the installation cannons and all), and my taskbar keeps disappearing at times. I can bring it back by right-clicking on the place it usually is and then change some preference; nevertheless this is getting annoying! Note that I have no third-party screen savers installed, and I have the latest videocard drivers installed, everything is top notch.

Edit: I am talking about the system tray icons, not the taskbar as a whole, sorry. My system tray (aka "notification area") disappears, and it's got nothing to do with screensavers or anything of the sort. Maybe something to do with sleep mode?

    Hello Aqualung,

Do you have the notification area set to Always show all icons on the taskbar (step 4) ?

    Hope this helps,

Yes I do, thanks for the reply. Could it have something to do with the sleep mode? This kinda started happening after I awoke the computer from sleep, though not immediately after. Anyway. I'll keep an eye on it, see if I can figure when exactly this happens...

    Welcome to the Forum

Sorry that the advice that you were given did not help. You may want to try this from MS.

System icons do not appear in the notification area in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 until you restart the computer

    or

System Icons - Enable or Disable

I realize that the MS solution is for a scenario a bit different than yours, but worse case scenario, you will not lose anything.

Make a system restore point first.

Mine does the exact same thing. I never could figure out what caused it.

    Hello Luigirez,

I read somewhere that someone that had this issue resolved it by changing their theme, then changing it back. Afterwards this quirk was gone. It may be worth a try to see if it may help.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
