    Is searching files possible??

I want to search for a line inside files ending in .log only.

How can I do it please tell, I've tried everything! Seems that this ability is lost in windows 7?

I have not actually used it, but the description sounds like it will do what you want:

File search tool for Windows XP/7/Vista/2000/2003/9X

It's not free, but has a 30 day trial period.

EFS is a really cool tool which does the job. I've been used it in WinXP too and its faster than the default search in Windows.

Pity, searching for text inside files functionality is not there in 7

Disappointing, XPs default search was a lot more powerful and intuitive.

Well, if you have the OS version required, and the hardware required, you could probably use XP's search feature in W7,

Windows 7's search is a million times better than Windows XP's. You can easily search for text inside files in indexed locations. Have you got Indexing Service disabled?

Yes I have indexing disabled, I only want to search a few text files, most of the drive is not text files and useless to index.

If you regulary need to search the contents of system files, you should consider indexing system folders. Then you can search in *.log files like this:
    ext:log text to search
